Speaker: Drew Richey

Description:  In this session you’ll learn about the foundations of our economy and how it impacts your personal finances.  You will gain insight into timeless principles of investing, common mistakes people make, and learn how to make your money work for you. This is what everyone should be required to learn in school!


Option 2: STARTING THE CONVERSATION NOW: THE BENEFITS OF MAKING FINANCIAL PLANNING A FAMILY DISCUSSION

Topic: Starting the Conversation Now: The benefits of making financial planning a family discussion 

Speaker: Brooke Cassady and John Dotson, Attorney

Description:  Whether you’re looking to get your children up to speed on your estate wishes or a child looking to get ahead of long-term care planning for your parent(s), you will walk away from this session equipped with information to get the conversation started. John Dotson, Attorney-at-Law with Kentucky Elder Law, will be joining to provide first-hard knowledge on elder law and estate planning to benefit the family.

Description:  As women strike out on their own—whether by choice or not—it’s crucial that they be involved in, and informed about, investment decisions that affect them. After all, 90% of women will be the sole financial decision maker at some point in their life. This presentation will cover important topics to help women gain more confidence and take more control of their financial security.

Join us to discuss what behaviors to watch out for, the impact they can have on your wealth, and how to minimize the impact of emotions on your investments.

Topic: Investing 101: Laying the Foundation

Speaker: Josh Marson & Andrew Boyles

Description: What are stocks and bonds? What does it mean to diversify your investments? What are reasonable expectations over different time periods? Why should I invest at all? These are all common questions that many individuals have. In Investing 101, we will provide you with the knowledge to better understand the basics of investing so that you can feel more confident and comfortable to either get started in investing or understand your current investment strategy at a deeper level.

Mark Peterson, Director Advisor Insights at Blackrock

Mark Peterson is a Director on the Advisor Insights team, focused on investment strategy and education. He is a 25+ year industry veteran with extensive expertise and experience educating advisors and investors on market and investment topics. Mark’s responsibilities include relating BlackRock’s investment strategy and investment views to advisors and investors. Mark is the author of the popular Student of the Market monthly publication that is distributed widely to advisors across the country. Prior to joining BlackRock, Mark was a Director and Head of Product Strategy and Economics at Deutsche Bank. Mark has also spent time on floor of the Board of Trade and Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Mark received a BS from Arizona State University.

Tina Downing a Senior Director and lead of Russell Investments’ Advisor & Intermediary Solutions Business Consulting group. In this role, Tina’s team delivers strategic business planning and ongoing consulting to investment advisors and firm leaders across the U.S. and Canada.

Tina joined Russell Investments in 2018 with 34 years in the financial services industry but began her career as an advisor in 1989 at PaineWebber and Charles Schwab.  She grew her business through building deep lasting relationships with her clients and managing the practice like a business owner. She focused on managing a business  that was client centric, efficient, profitable and sustainable.  Tina transitioned her practice to Smith Barney/Morgan Stanley from Stifel Nicolaus in 2001 and rose through the ranks of Morgan Stanley, ultimately heading up organizational development and knowledge management for the firm, leading teaming and strategic partnering and advanced advisor development.  Tina has coached and consulted advisors and firm executives for many years in areas such as strategic planning,  practice optimization, creating a disciplined product strategy and team leadership dynamics and productivity. Tina’s strengths in critical thinking, program management, content development, team building, and executive consulting, help financial advisors and firm leader build more successful advisory practices.

She holds a B.S. in Management and a M.A., in Management and Leadership. She is a Certified Professional Values Analyst® , Certified Professional Behavior Analyst ® , a Registered Corporate Coach™, a Licensed Registered Representative, FINRA Series 7, 8, 63, 65 and resides in St. Louis, MO.

John Dotson, Attorney at Edlerlaw, PLLC.

John grew up in Glasgow in South Central Kentucky. Several years ago, John served as the court-appointed guardian for his aunt, who was in a Glasgow nursing home. This experience had a significant impact on the way John viewed many things related to caring for older people. Having in mind the needs of and the questions posed by older members of his own family, John joined Kentucky ElderLaw to serve and respond to the needs of older clients and their families. He brings legal experience, compassion, first- hand knowledge and a passion for helping older folks and their families.

Drew is director and financial advisor with the Perry Richey Group. He joined the team in 2005 and brings a host of specialized skills to serve our clients’ unique and varied needs.

Drew is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics and a certificate in Financial Planning. He has also obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Drew focuses on providing personalized service to affluent families and businesses and manages the team’s long-term strategic projects.

Drew loves being at home with his wife, Kelsey, and their two children, Callie and Jacob. He is an active member in his church and community, and in his free time enjoys mountain biking, hunting, camping, and traveling with his family. He loves endurance sports, with his biggest accomplishments being a three-time finisher of Ironman Louisville and completing the Leadville, Colorado, 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race.

Brooke graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and Master’s in Applied Economics. Brooke holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.

Brooke is involved with The Center for Courageous Kids as a member of the Advocacy Committee. Brooke and her husband, Chase, and son, Hunter, love spending their free time outdoors, hiking, hunting, and playing sports together.

Josh is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and has obtained the Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation. He has also obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Josh serves clients as a primary relationship manager, focusing on comprehensive financial planning. Josh is also a portfolio manager for our team, providing globally allocated portfolios across various risk tolerances.

Josh and his wife, Lindsey, have two children, Harper and Eli, along with Bo, an English Labrador Retriever. Josh enjoys all things hunting and fishing, along with any reason to spend time in the great outdoors.
